The Similkameen Valley has two initiatives that provide a framework for exploration through Agritourism and Shoulder and Winter Experience Development.

AgriTOURISM StraTEGY

The Similkameen Country Development Association is leading a valley-wide agri-tourism strategy designed to strengthen the local economy and celebrate the region’s cultural roots. By enhancing quality of life, creating jobs across tourism, agriculture and hospitality, and encouraging community engagement, the strategy aims to deliver a strong return on investment.

We have formed an Agri-Tourism Steering Committee, made up of local farmers, producers, and agri-tourism operators from across the Similkameen. This group helps ensure that future initiatives reflect the diversity, values, and strengths of the valley’s agricultural community. The Steering Committee always welcomes new participants, and meetings are open to anyone interested in supporting agri-tourism development in the Similkameen.

We are pleased to share that, in partnership with the Similkameen Valley Planning Society, we have secured funding to begin implementing the first phase of the strategy. Several exciting projects are already underway, including the development of the Similkameen Farm Trail and Sip the Similkameen initiatives, new marketing assets, industry workshops, and collaborative promotional opportunities. We look forward to sharing more updates in the coming months. Stay tuned!

Shoulder & Winter Tourism Experience Opportunities

In support of business retention and expansion, the research-based Shoulder and Winter Tourism Experience Opportunities project provides information to generate ideas to fill gaps for shoulder (spring/fall) and potential winter tourism experiences.

Funding for this project is provided by ETSI-BC and the Similkameen Valley Planning Society (SVPS)
